Centreville Regional Library
On Sunday September 15, 2024, we conducted a robotics outreach event at Centreville Regional Library. We consisted of three stations: an FLL programming station, engineering and hands-on station, and an FTC robot driving station. In the FLL software station, we taught youth students simple FLL programming, and applying it to a robotics soccer game and race. In the engineering station, we conducted a "tallest tower" challenge with toothpicks and marshmallows. In addition, we consisted of a catapult building competition with popsicle sticks and a paper airplane challenge. Furthermore, we permitted students to drive our outreach FTC robotics competitions. Throughout the events, we spoke to numerous parents regarding FIRST robotics programs and enrollment processes to teams. |

STEM Fest
On Saturday, October 12, 2024, we attended the STEM Fest event at Mount Vernon High School hosted by STEAMOLOGY. There were many organizations who assembled booths that exposed youth students to STEM fields, events, and organizations. We consisted of three stations: an FLL programming station, engineering and hands-on station, and an FTC robot driving station. In the FLL software station, we taught youth students simple FLL programming, and applying it to a robotics soccer game and race. In the engineering station, we conducted a "tallest tower" challenge with toothpicks and marshmallows. We spoke to parents of students interested in enrolling in robotic programs and informed them of FIRST logistics and local team organizations. At least 40 students and parents attended the outreach event and were interested in our both and the robotics programs. |

Halloween Expo
During Halloween of 2024, our team exhibited our robot to trick or treaters in a local neighborhood. To introduce the youth to FIRST, we set up our FTC robot and a small field of mats surrounded by LED lights on the driveway of the house. There, we let trick or treaters drive the robot around the field and navigate a small obstacle course of cones. After they were done driving, we sent them off with a bag of sweet treats. At our event, we were able to expose over 100+ local children to the exhilarating world of FIRST Robotics!

Maker Faire
On October 20th, our team participated in Maker Fair, one of the largest STEM events in Northern Virginia which is held by Nova Labs and the City of Alexandria. We were able to join dozens of innovators and tech enthusiasts to exhibit our team, robot, and FIRST. At the event, we had two fun stations to engage children in STEM learning. Our first station was a gummy tower building station, where kids were tasked to build the tallest tower that they could with 10 gummies and 10 toothpicks. Our second station was a robot driving station where kids could get hands-on experience driving our robot. Also, we were able to inform parents and kids about what FIRST is all about and how fun of an experience it is.

LifeTime Kids Academy
On October 4th, 2024, we conducted an outreach event at the LifeTime Kids Academy in which we held an engineering challenge for the tallest tower with given toothpicks and marshmallows, exposing them to the means of engineering and structural integrity. In addition, we allowed these youth to drive our outreach robot, sparking their interest within robotics and STEM activities.
